Green Building and Green Architecture have made their footprint in the last decade and as far as I can tell they show no sign of stopping. I recently stumbled across some new ideas for green buildings and green architecture and was surprised to see a “Shipping Container Home.” Who would have ever thought that designers could come up with something as simple and eco-friendly as recycled shipping containers? The amazing thing is that building a shipping container home is simple, cheap and pretty quick. What’s even more appealing about this eco building is how incredible some of the designs are. With more and more people becoming interested in this alternative style of building we are beginning to see some pretty incredible and innovative designs. Flexible Love: Innovative Eco Friendly Furniture

Here’s some new eco friendly furniture to get your green wheels going, Flexible Love, the cardboard moldable chair. This recycled chair is made of cardboard and post-industrial wood waste. The unique honeycomb cardboard construction not only gives it strength so you can sit on it, but it also allows you to mold it into any shape. Flexible Love is a great example of green furniture and how innovators can make something simple like wood and cardboard into something as necessary as a chair. Eco Music: Jack Johnson and Brushfire Records Eco-Friendly Recording Studio

With all the strides in making the world more eco-friendly it’s nice to know we have people like musician Jack Johnson on our side. Not only does this man take time to help beautify the world through the Kokua Foundation, he has even found a way to make a type of “eco music.” Together him and co-owner Emmett Malloy created an eco-friendly recording studio for their record label Brushfire Records.

This studio is equipped with everything from eco-friendly cork flooring to a solar paneled roof and it even has recycled blue jean insulation in the walls and ceiling. Jack Johnson’s latest album, Sleep Through the Static, was recorded in this studio and is a great example of eco music and its endless possibilities. From solar powered recording to eco-friendly packaging, Jack Johnson and Brushfire Records are making great strides in eco music.
